Universal Studios Florida: New Roller Coaster Construction Update - Aerial Footage 2024 (2026)

Get ready for a wild ride – literally! Universal Studios Florida is undergoing a massive transformation, and aerial photos reveal incredible progress on what many believe will be a thrilling new roller coaster! Thanks to eagle-eyed X user bioreconstruct (https://x.com/bioreconstruct), we've got a bird's-eye view of the action.

Bioreconstruct recently took to the skies above Universal Orlando, capturing stunning images that showcase the extensive developments happening across the resort. But the real star of the show is the construction site where the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit once stood (https://wdwnt.com/2025/08/last-look-hollywood-rip-ride-rockit-universal-studios-florida/). This area is buzzing with activity, hinting at something truly spectacular on the horizon.

From the back of the park, beyond the New York area, the photos reveal the sheer scale of the project. The construction zone stretches all the way to the waterway near CityWalk, encompassing a huge swathe of land. This gives you a real sense of just how ambitious this new attraction is.

Zooming in on the CityWalk-adjacent area, we see a flurry of utility work and the beginnings of foundation construction. All signs point to preparations for a major new attraction or structure, taking the place of the beloved, but now-departed, Rip Ride Rockit. This area is crucial, as it connects the park's immersive theming with the vibrant energy of CityWalk.

A view of the open walkway beside the Hard Rock Cafe offers an even better perspective on the scope of the project. It's easy to underestimate the size of these theme park endeavors, but these images truly capture the magnitude of the construction.

Deeper into the Universal Studios area, an auger has been set up for foundation work on the new structure. This massive drill, used to create deep holes for structural supports, has even been visible from within the park, particularly near the former entrance to Rip Ride Rockit. This gives guests a tantalizing glimpse of what's to come.

Further back, past the Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon attraction and adjacent to Revenge of the Mummy, we see what appears to be a service building for the coaster. A noticeable depression in the ground is filled with workers, and, crucially, the supports (or “spurs”) for the coaster tracks have already been erected in this gap. These track spurs are a major confirmation that this project is indeed a roller coaster and also give us a rough idea of the coaster's path/layout.

And this is the part most people miss: The location of this service building suggests that the ride may interact with the existing infrastructure and terrain in surprising ways. Could there be indoor sections? Will it utilize the nearby lagoon? The possibilities are endless!

But here's where it gets controversial...

Universal Orlando has also been teasing a new Fast & Furious attraction on their official X account (https://wdwnt.com/2026/01/universal-orlando-teases-new-fast-furious-attraction-announcement-coming-soon/). Could this new coaster actually be Fast & Furious themed? That's the burning question on everyone's minds!

An announcement is scheduled for January 20, 2026, so we won't have to wait long to find out. But until then, the speculation is running wild!

Some fans are excited about the prospect of a high-speed, action-packed coaster based on the popular film franchise. Others are more skeptical, arguing that the Fast & Furious theme might not fit the overall aesthetic of the park. What do you think?
